Over at WFPL, we’ve done a few things about meth lately. Well, here’s more. Louisville’s Metro Mapper just posted this link on Twitter. It’s an interactive map of meth lab busts.
You can see where the labs are concentrated, but there are busts everywhere except the west end and far east end. What are your thoughts on how to combat meth? Sergeant Salyards has suggested banning the cold medicine required to make the drug, since it’s easier to find other cold medicines than it is to find meth ingredients. In my old home state of Missouri, there was legislation floated to make Sudafed a prescription drug. In most places you need to present proper ID to buy Sudafed, but people seem to have found ways around that, especially with the smurfing system.

Thanks for being the first to post about this national meth lab DEA bust map. Hope your readers and everyone across the USA find it a useful tool to help combat the issue and bring about more discussions.
Missouri was the state with the most meth lab busts on my map too, so the problem is pretty severe there.
