Ed Martin is running as a Libertarian in the Third District congressional race. Martin attempted to run as a Libertarian in 2008, but because he was registered to vote as a Republican, the GOP challenged his candidacy. The Kentucky Court of Appeals ruled that he could not run. This time around, his run is legal, and Martin could steal votes from Republican candidate Todd Lally, thereby helping incumbent Democrat John Yarmuth win a third term in office.

Insight’s CN2 Politics interviewed Martin, and got this quote from Lally’s campaign:

“At this critical junction in our country’s history, we need people with great ideas and we want to welcome Mr. Martin to the race,” said Jay Hill, Lally’s campaign manager. “Because in the long run this race is about Americas future and we need all the idea we can get.”
