Republican mayoral candidate Hal Heiner‘s campaign released this announcement today:

Citing Hal’s 8 years of experience in Metro government and ability to provide a fresh start, Louisville Corrections FOP Lodge 77 today pledged their support and endorsement of Hal Heiner for Mayor.

FOP Lodge 77 President Tony Harris stated, “Hal Heiner is the one candidate we trust to provide a fresh start for Metro government, and the only candidate with the experience and ability to lead from day one.  For those reasons and many more we are proud to lend our support to his campaign.”

“I’m thrilled to have the support of Louisville Corrections and their 495 officers,” said Heiner.  “Public protection is government’s most important duty and I’m proud to stand with these officers as we work together to move Louisville forward.”

The police union has also endorsed Heiner. Several other city unions have endorsed Democratic candidate Greg Fischer.
