This week’s update on the Ohio River Radio Consortium comes from consortium editor and WFPL Environmental Reporter Kristin Espeland Gourlay.

This week, the Ohio River Radio Consortium covered efforts to clean up emissions from river boat traffic. You can listen here.

We also filed stories on lots of legislative action from Frankfort. To sum up, new energy efficiency and conservation legislation is on the table; the so-called “stream saver” bill has once again been introduced to prevent mining operations from dumping waste in streams; and a resolution calling on the U.S. Congress to postpone any EPA action on regulating carbon just cleared a key hurdle in the Kentucky House.

And check out our newly launched blog, The Pulse. We’ve got the skinny on the greening of the 2010 Olympics, an update on the Kingston, Tennessee coal ash spill, and more.

Next week: turning manure into energy, and our reporter hits the road for southeastern Kentucky.
