Senator Dan Seum‘s (R-Louisville) neighborhood schools bill–which would end Jefferson County Public Schools’ student assignment plan–has cleared the Senate Education Committee and could be up for a vote by the full Senate Friday.

The Jefferson County Republican Party is holding a unity picnic this weekend. Senator Dan Seum is hosting the event. Mayoral candidate Hal Heiner, Congressional candidate Todd Lally, Senate Candidate Rand Paul and the losing candidates from those primaries have all been invited, according to the GOP’s press release, which also says the picnic’s goal is to bring the former rivals together to build momentum for the general election.

Seum’s rival Marty Meyer recently held a campaign office grand opening celebration. Do events like this influence you as a voter?

Louisville firefighters have endorsed Democratic candidate for State Senate Marty Meyer in his race against incumbent Republican Dan Seum (R-38).

From the Meyer campaign:

Craig Willman from Professional Firefighters Association officially announced their endorsement of Meyer’s campaign saying, “we’re going to do everything we can to help push this campaign to victory because we know Marty Meyer has got our back.”

The announcement was made at Meyer’s campaign headquarters grand opening Saturday. Several prominent Democrats were in attendance, including Lieutenant Governor Dan Mongiardo, former Congressman Ron Mazzolli, Congressman John Yarmuth and Mayoral candidate Greg Fischer.
